My wife and I own and operate RockenReel Sportfishing, Dana Point Shark Fishing and California Coastal Charters. Our goal is to give your crew the VERY BEST ADVENTURE POSSIBLE. We are proud to provide Dana Point Harbor a unique experience that includes not only fishing but a "California Riviera Coastal Cruise" where we explore Dolphins, Whales, Sea Lions, Seals, Birds and the beautiful Homes and Scenic Coastline.
RockenReel Sportfishing is one of the very few approved Dana Point Harbor Partners AUTHORIZED Charter business. We are a properly insured LLC that has been in business for seven years. With high standards we have earned our keep. Captains exceed ALL credentials. Quality American made vessels are maintained with an open check book. We currently service some of our local 5 star hotels exclusively.
Packing a nice loud sound system or 35 Ciera the "ROCKEN" will deliver- enjoy the top deck relaxing with seating for 6 passengers. Lounge on the bean bags on the bow and enjoy the sun.
Our 47 JERSEY Sport Fisher the "S.S. TARTAR SAUCE" is a large comfortable boat with plenty of space and comfort features to really kick back and relax. XXL interior, upper fly bridge deck, galley, head, fishing and viewing decks.
Our 35 WELLCRAFT SCARAB the "ROCKENREEL" is one sexy vessel. Speed, performance and a dry boat which means that you don't get wet. This extremely rare vessel is most of our DREAM BOATS. the SCARAB is a off shore performance racing boat built for speed and air- also known as a cigarette boat.
Our classic trophy 1969 DONZI known as the one and only SWEET 16 the "KILLER DANA" will be sure to give you the ride of a lifetime!

Tommy Bahama beach chairs, Classic old school 1970s Schwinn beach cruisers, private clean bathroom, heat, air-cond, fridge, freezer, bbq, tables, shade beach umbrella, awesome sound system- blue tooth and much more!

Adrenaline seekers hold on to your rod- RockenReel Sportfishing specializes in SHARK FISHING . During the warmer water months we target world class Marlin, Swordfish, Wahoo, Tuna, Dorado and Yellowtail on the 9 hour trip. FYI- The big fish do show up right out front and when that happens you will have a chance for the big stuff on the shorter charters.
A typical seasonal fishing trip bite should be Bass, Bonito, Barracuda and Mako Shark. During the colder months we target White Sea Bass, Rockfish, Sheepshead, Sand Dabs, Whitefish, Sculpin, Halibut and Thresher Sharks.

Captain Steven Locken has been fishing since he was a child and always wanted to fish for a living. After giving up his suit and tie, he’s now living the dream. In 2017, he fished over 300 days of the year and hopes to keep it up with the help of new customers. He can’t wait to share his passion with you and help you live out your fishing dreams.
Step aboard one of his state-of-the-art boats with sound systems, clean interior and much more. You can take advantage of the spacious decks and comfortable cabins that comes fitted with a bunk, kitchen, private toilet, and plenty of seating. Capt. Steven will provide drinks and snacks, so all you need to do is bring some sandwiches and make yourself at home!
With trips ranging from 2 to 9 hours, you’ll have the chance to explore a range of diverse fishing grounds. You’ll have all the latest fishing gear at your disposal, and you’ll fish for live bait on the way out to the sweet spots. Bottom fish the nearshore shallows and troll the deep waters offshore to attract the bite of some truly prized fish.
SoCal’s fishery is renowned all over the world, and it’s easy to see why. On the same trip, you’ll have the chance to fill the boat with delicious Seabass, Sheepshead, Halibut, and monster Tuna and Mahi Mahi. You can even go after Thresher and Mako Sharks and get the pulses racing like never before!
At the end of the trip, the crew can clean and fillet your catch for tips of 15%, so you can take it home for dinner. All you need to do is grab your California fishing license and come aboard for a thrilling day’s fishing with RockenReel Sportfishing!

GIANT BLUE, GRAY, HUMPBACK, FIN, KILLER, PILOT, SPERM, DALL'S PORPOISE AND FALSE KILLER WHALES PASS RIGHT THROUGH DANA POINT ON THEIR MIGRATION TOWARDS MEXICO. Bottlenose dolphin, common dolphin, Risso’s dolphin and Pacific white-sided dolphins frolic along the coastline for everyone to enjoy!
Dana Point is rated one of the best fishing spots in Southern California with only about a 5-minute voyage to get out of the Harbor and into the fishing and whale watching hot spots. I am a Local Native and have been FISHING since the age of 3. When I had boats in Huntington and Newport it took me almost an hour to get out of the Harbor. We own fast boats in a small harbor which means more fishing and viewing time. We have been growing steadily since we opened in 2018. This is my dream job – Sportfishing, having a blast and showing you everything this awesome playground on the sea has to offer.
